Howard D. Varner – General Manager / Laboratory Director

Mr. Varner’s background in laboratory service spans more than 30 years with over 17 years of management experience at Environmental Hazards Services.  Howard provides strategic guidance and operational expertise to all departments at EHS.  Howard has been actively involved in AIHA’s accreditation programs and has previously served on the Analytical Accreditation Board, as well as chaired the Environmental Lead Committee and Asbestos Registry Program.  Howard has also served on Virginia’s Regulatory Board for Asbestos, Lead and Home Inspectors.  Howard holds a Masters Degree in Business and Public Administration with an emphasis in Environmental Management from Southeastern University in Washington D.C. as well as a Bachelor of Science in Biology Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond Virginia.

 

Julie A. Dickerson – Laboratory Administrator – QA/QC Manager

Mrs. Dickerson manages daily operations and interfaces with all lab managers, sales, customer service, technical and administrative personnel.   In addition to providing overall direction and leadership for assigned directives, Julie is also responsible for the Quality Assurance plans and maintenance of accreditation, regulatory and licensure requirements.  Julie has over 15 years experience in analytical and inorganic chemistry and a strong background in management. Julie holds an American Chemical Society certified Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with Mathematics minor from Salisbury State University.


 Kathy A. Fletcher – Asbestos Supervisor

Drawing on her 20 plus years of experience, Mrs. Fletcher supervises a team of more than ten analysts.  Kathy is responsible for the daily operations of the asbestos laboratory, ensuring that sample turnaround time requirements are met as well as enforcing strict safety policies within the asbestos lab.  Kathy is a registered nurse and holds Asbestos Certifications from the University of North Carolina and the Medical College of Virginia as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University.

 

Kathy Tyler-Harris – Sales & Marketing Supervisor

Having been an integral member of the EHS team for 12 years, Mrs. Harris oversees all aspects of sales and marketing.  Kathy is responsible for long term client growth and provides project management between clients and laboratory personnel to ensure all project specifications and expectations are met.  Kathy holds an Associates Certificate in Marketing Strategy from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University.  Additionally, Kathy serves as the Secretary and Treasurer for Central Virginia Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (CVAIHA) and is an active member of the Lead and Environmental Hazard Association (LEHA) as well as the Environmental Information Association (EIA).
